Based in London, Martin provides wealth management advice to clients both within the City, and more widely throughout the UK.
After attending international schools in both Brussels and Geneva, as well as reading economics at UCL in Belgium, he embarked on a banking career which spanned over 15 years, working in both Corporate Finance as well as the Foreign Exchange markets. This gave him an excellent grasp of the financial markets. Having worked in Brussels, Tokyo and London, he then decided in 2006 that it was time for a change and used his experience and financial background to pursue a more bespoke and personalised career by joining St. James's Place Wealth Management. As a consequence, he has now established many working relationships with individuals within the financial services sector due to the insight and understanding he had for their specific financial requirements – whether these be personal or corporate.
Martin is committed to ensuring that his industry knowledge remains relevant and current by placing strong emphasis on his personal development. This, along with the pride and dedication he places on developing solid personal relationships with his clients, ensures he is able offer a rounded, professional and principled service.
In line with his professional background, he has focused on developing specialist knowledge in the contracting world, where he works closely alongside accountants to bring clients optimal tax saving solutions - this includes pension planning, protection and strategic investment ideas for clients who are looking for potentially higher returns than they may be getting, for instance, from excess cash sitting in their business accounts. There is also access to expertise within the firm to assist on other areas such as mortgages and investment planning, inheritance tax planning.
Fundamentally Martin sees his approach as one of problem-solving for the client - rather than product-selling. As a result, his clients can expect to receive the most comprehensive and appropriate advice at all times.
The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.
The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.
Equities do not provide the security of capital associated with a deposit account with a bank or building society.
